Every team is under pressure to “do something with AI.” The risk is not moving too slowly. It is speeding up the wrong work.
If the offer is fuzzy, AI will help you produce more fuzzy messaging, more undifferentiated campaigns, and more follow-up that still does not convert. Throughput without positioning just scales confusion.
What AI is actually good at
Used against a clear commercial foundation, AI-assisted marketing is a real advantage:
- Faster research and synthesis across accounts and competitors
- Stronger first drafts for emails, pages, and enablement
- Quicker QA, personalization variants, and follow-up sequences
- Less manual grind between strategy and shipped assets
That is delivery leverage. It is not strategy.
What AI cannot choose for you
AI does not decide:
- Who you sell to (ICP and buying committee)
- What problem you own (the pain you are uniquely paid to solve)
- Why you win (differentiation a buyer can repeat)
- What “good” looks like for pipeline and ROI this quarter
Those are positioning and offer decisions. Until they are crisp, automation just helps you fail faster.
Get the commercial basics clear first
Before you automate content or stand up agent workflows, lock:
- ICP: firmographics plus the situations that make them buy now
- Problem statement: one sentence sales and marketing both use
- Offer: what you sell, what you do not, and what success looks like
- Proof: evidence that belongs in every play, not a buried case-study page
Then point AI at execution: research packs, draft variants, enablement, and follow-up that match that positioning.
GroupOMM’s take
We use AI-assisted marketing and agents to increase ship speed after the commercial story is solid. Staffing and specialized marketing fill the gaps; GOPS turns the work into a repeatable system. AI sits inside that system as leverage, not as the strategy itself.
If your AI experiments feel busy but buyers still cannot say what you do, fix positioning first. Then turn up the speed.
